For January we are working on the Saw Tooth Stars.

You will also need a 12″ star like this one.

You’ll need a 6″ star like this.

I chose my fabrics for this months blocks today, and cut out the bits. I can’t wait to sew them together this week when I have a moment. I am doing enough for 2 of each block, because I will be making two! I’m so excited!

Rebecca Keith January 3, 2013 at 9:19 am

Val Carolus January 3, 2013 at 11:00 am

Is this the same pattern we are to use for the Reproduction Fabric lottery block?

Bonnie Archibald January 3, 2013 at 6:23 pm

I love this sampler! I made up my mind today to cut out the blocks using ONLY my scraps. I guess we’ll see how that comes out! Thanks!

Lenore Guajardo January 3, 2013 at 7:16 pm

I am getting excited about doing this BOM….visited your fantastic shop with the South Holland quilters group a few months ago….what a great time we had there.

Gloria Berndl January 3, 2013 at 8:32 pm

Please include me in the fun. Looks great and oh so Country Threads! Love it.

Diane B January 4, 2013 at 12:39 pm

I love this block. I just did several of them for sashing cornerstones on a project. Except these were 2″ finished blocks!

Bobbie January 4, 2013 at 1:06 pm

Love the sampler! Thanks so much for the project.

Connie Blyler January 4, 2013 at 1:21 pm

I’ve printed out January’s instructions… looks like fun! Don’t know that I’ll keep up with you but will try. Question: Will you be sending us e-mail reminders the beginning of each month – at least for the first three or so months – until we get in the groove??? I’m afraid I’ll forget to look for the patterns otherwise. Thanks for a neat project and for always being such an ‘upbeat’ crowd there at Country Threads. :*)

Jane Dumler January 4, 2013 at 1:31 pm

Look forward to this project. Need to get those fabrics used up!

Thank you so much for this program! Our local quilt shop is new and has not started any BOM programs and the shop 45 minutes away where I used to participate in their BOM program has closed. I made this Monty’s blocks today. It is my goal to not buy any fabric and just use my stash. What size will this be when complete? Thanks!

Christine January 4, 2013 at 5:56 pm

Just found this today and am excited to join the online sampler love the idea of different size blocks being used together. Glad this is online as I live in Oregon. Thank you for offering it online :-)

Jeanine January 4, 2013 at 6:57 pm

I have so many things I want to do this year, but thought this would be fun since it’s something new each month. Also going to use from my stash.

Cheryl Davis January 4, 2013 at 8:39 pm

This is a wonderful and generous idea! Thank you so much. I have a few other projects going on “in my head”, and several other UFO’s but I am going to print out the instructions each month and give keeping up a try! Anything from Country Threads is a treasure to me; thank you for this treat.

Connie Tharp January 4, 2013 at 8:50 pm

I love this quilt and am excited to use only my stash to complete it. And it’s FREE! I ask you…how often does that happen??!! Thank you so much!

Just found and printed off your pattern. Thank you, I have been wanting to do a sampler quilt. A BOM is the perfect way to make one.

Lenore Guajardo February 6, 2013 at 10:22 am

Star Blocks completed..onto the next block..

Cynthia Jacobson February 10, 2013 at 12:22 pm

Connie- Both Sue and I are challenging each other to make all if the blocks and then compare what we did by the end of the year. Great idea and fun to work on. I haven’t gotten at mine yet – but today is the day I start!!!

Babs Michaud June 6, 2013 at 8:51 am

Hope all is well with all of you. Enjoy your emails and are you
still doing the block of the month quilt, or maybe I’m not looking
in the right place.

Thank you for your time

kay kopacek June 17, 2013 at 10:29 pm

I was not aware of this project–therefore too late to start now–will you offer it again next year????

CountryThreads July 1, 2013 at 8:20 pm

It is easy to jump in on the Free Online Sampler but you will have to make multiple blocks to catch up. If you don’t want to do that, you could make a sampler wall quilt instead and start with the July block found on our home page.
I haven’t thought about next year!
