A Quick Note

I neglected to add that we both have ice grippers and we use grit instead of any type of ice melt. I promise to be careful outside! Here’s a picture of beauty this morning to start your day – have a good one!

Teresa – yes, it can be like chicken grit or with the ice melt you will probably find a similar product. Even clay kitty litter works. We also have a local business who will come to the farm with a sand spreader for the whole yard.

    Good Morning Mary,
Such a lovely, full of blooms orchid. Thanks for sharing on this sunny, CHILLY, 16 degree morning in Idaho. No new snow last night!

! I commented on your previous post before reading this one! Glad you have ice grippers.

You know how sometimes you see something and then you remember you had a dream? Seeing your orchid reminds me I dreamed we had just bought a house and discovered a hidden door in the basement which led to a huge room with grow lights in it. I was overjoyed! I must have read your blog before bed. 🙂

Didn’t get a chance to read your blog yesterday so today went back and I love the big pictures. They are so clear and easy to see everything. I hope you keep them that way.
    Love reading your blog.

Looking at your email you say you use ice grippers for waking on ice.
What or where can I get some. Do you have a name of the product.
I can not walk on ice. I have had hip replacement and I’m scared to
death to fall and I did this morning on ice so it makes me more nervous
    than ever.

Jane Plourde – Yak Trax is one brand but you could probably find them at Target or Walmart or an athletic store maybe? I even bought a pair at the thrift store.

I have one orchid – about a month and a half ago, my 2 1/2 year old grandson came walking into the kitchen carrying my orchid – without the pot, just the plant. I tried to repot it. And guess what!?! It is sending up a new stem. It had been dormant after the last blooms.. I guess it needed a wake up! hope the grandson doesn’t do that too often though!

Christie B – orchids need repotting every now and then – the roots start growing out the top of the plant! I know it’s telling me to repot – your grandson just got the message before you – haha! Glad it’s going to bloom for you!

What a beautiful orchid, Mary! I have two that are getting ready to bloom and I am tickled. This summer I read that they like eastern exposure and I placed there, it also said not to give them ice cubes. I always questioned that, but since those were the instructions I did it anyway. Thank you for sharing those lovely flowers.

Felicia – I don’t like the ice cube directions either. I never use them. Room temperature water is strict moderation is my rule.
