Cobblestone Fabric Selection

So many of you were interested in how Connie chooses her fabric. Here is one way to get started using a. Harm pack as the basis of your palette.

Pick a charm pack – any charm pack.

These are the fabrics divided into lights and darks.

These are the fabrics she discarded.

She added the fabrics on the left. The gray fabric on top of the charm squares will be the centers.

Here are the lights she added.

Looks like a lot of fabric.

She made 2 blocks and will cut the rest. She said she liked the combo so I’m guessing she’s going to make another little quilt.

We hope this was helpful to you. The Cobblestone pattern is still available for $3, check or cash. Send to Country Threads, 2345 Palm Ave, Garner, IA 50438.

Now both of us will continue mowing – ha! I’ll bet many of you are doing the same.

Something as simple as opening the charm pack and sorting it into lights and darks is just the advice I needed!! Amazing. And then knowing I don’t have to use all of them in the pack. I know it sounds like I am a dummy but I have been sewing for 40 years and have some charm packs but never knew how to use them with my stash to coordinate! Thank you both for sharing your knowledge.

Mary, can I still order the twined rug frame book and DVD? Was hoping to order that and the cobblestone pattern at the same time.
I really enjoy all your posts; farm, animals, sewing, and learn so much from you!
    Thanks,
    Susan

I’m mailing out a check today for the cobblestone pattern. Thanks for the fabric tutorial. I found it inspiring. I can pick batiks without any problem but I do have some difficulty with other fabrics.

I’m not mowing because the grass would probably fry in the sun if cut shorter. We haven’t had rain in weeks and none in the forecast. As far as the flower bed in your last post, I think it’s pretty as is. No need to weed!

I’m with Kathy! I never really knew what to do with a charm pack! I don’t have any but it’s because I wasn’t sure how to use them. I will buy some now! I actually found a stash of cotton fabrics that I forgot I had up in the attick! I am so looking forward to incorporating some of the into quilts. Mary, I love the “primitive” look for my home, do you know of any good sources for homespun fabric? My favorite quilt shop “The Quilted Acorn” in Newbury, MA, closed a year or so ago. They had awesome fabrics. So sad that they are gone.
