It’s February 1st!

Guess what’s happening today!

Your books went to the post office today!

The first 145 books have been signed, packaged and addressed and today they are on their way to you!

We have ordered more books and will fill remaining orders when they arrive.

This is the book I’m talking about – Beyond The Battlefield, 14 scrappy Civil War Quilts. Each quilt has the story of a woman who worked “beyond the battlefield” while men were off to war. Our good friend, Tanya, did all the research and writing for this book and for our next book. Here are some of the quilts from the new book.

This last one, Best of All, is the quilt that Connie is teaching on the Stitchin Heaven cruise in April. It’s been remade since I sewed the first one many years ago. This quilt pops up on Pinterest all the time – have you seen it? Pinned it? Now you can get the pattern for this most popular quilt.

The book is available for $31.00 – increase in price reflects the postage rate hike that the post office sprung on all of us, retroactive to January 27. We really should have known this would happen if we published a pre-order price.

So now you know what we’ve been doing during all this brutal weather this week. I didn’t want to say anything just in case we couldn’t get them all ready to ship on this day February 1 because I know you’re anxious to get your book in your hands. The next 144 will go out in a week or so. The first to order are the first to get their book, as it should be.

It’s going to warm up this weekend, or so they say. The bitter cold air just bites at your skin – I’ll be glad for some warmer temps. Remember when I said I’d never trust the Farmers Almanac again because we had 2 weeks in January that were in the 30’s and 40’s? Silly me! I take it all back!

I’ve been looking forward to writing this post! Oh, happy day!

Whoopee! Can’t wait to get my hands on the book!! Finally got my bulls eye blocks cut – now to sew them together. Got a bit behind but am enjoying the process. Also made the I Love You little quilt – actually, quilts – one for each of our 3 granddaughters for valentines day. Can’t wait to hear how they like them. One in Maine, one in Illinois and the other right here in Rochester. Fun to make. It’s a warmer temperature today but my husband said that it felt colder out there than it did yesterday!

Congratulations!! So glad you were able to mail out today. Looking forward to enjoying my copy.
It is dig out day in western Michigan. The winds have finally stopped blowing snow in off the lake. I get to get out and about today. Yea, it is a grocery run but out of the house, and just a walk about the store will feel good.
No schools held classes today as it was still 2 degrees at pick up times. Hard to get those buildings heated for one day. Some districts missed the whole week, and have used up all their allotted snow days for the year.
Rain is in our forecast for the weekend, so the icy roads and mud will begin. There is a 17 mile backup of ice on the big river here. Flood warnings because the ice is jammed so thick. A bridge is closed in the next county.

My first thought this morning was the books being mailed today!!!! Can’t wait to get mine. I sent my order pretty early so I’m hoping it is in the first batch sent out today. Looking forward to reading all the stories. I have been going through my civil war reproduction stash getting ready. My quilting sisters call me the “scrap quilt queen” because I love scrap quilts. The scrappier the better.

Happy day indeed!! Sun is shining, it’s above 0 and a great read is coming my way. Thank you for some good news! We did have school here. They have only used one snow day so far. Something told me when I bought two new turtlenecks and a pair of kneesocks (YES kneesocks!) back in fall that I might need them since I am feeling the cold more in my old age. I don’t like to wish my days away but I am ready for 50 degrees coming here Monday.

Betty – the FA predicted a colder than usual winter and then in January we had highs in the 30’s – that’s what I was referring to.

    Oh! Happy day indeed.
Which quilt to make first? They look like charm packs or fat quarters with yardage for background will get us started.
Your hands must be in pain after all that signing. Bless you both.

Happy February 1 to all! So excited to have the new book in my hands and start planning. I almost started a new project the other day when I was at the local quilt shop and then stopped myself, remembering this book would soon be on the way. I’ve already decided I want to make the one with the big, solid blue blocks (can’t remember the name of it)! I’m looking forward to reading the stories that go along with each quilt!
Glad you are getting a bit of a warm-up for the weekend! Everyone will be wanting to get out to get some fresh air!
Mary, you mentioned a ‘next new book’–what will that one be?

Have you found Ellie the white goose? So sorry for your geese & all the other creatures that endured the bitter cold. I can’t complain – we had much needed rain yesterday & more due Sat. &. Sun – mid 60s. Stay warm & safe. Eagerly awaiting your book.

Boy, old age has set in! Got Ellie & the goose mixed up. You said there is a white goose missing & hard to find in the white snow. All geese accounted for or is one still missing? Weatherman says the mid west is suppose to warm up this weekend.

Quite a few Idaho school are closed “due to illnesses”! The mountain areas (that’s me) are going to receive much snow starting Saturday! News reported 4 days of it! What else is new?
Looking forward to the new book! Thanks, Mary.

So looking forward to receiving my book…Thank You for all you do. Just returned from a quilt retreat and my bullseye is complele with the exception of borders. Another quilter was also doing the sew along. Put mine together in a drunkards path formation…may just have to do another following your design setting. Stay warm.

I’m tickled the books are on their way. I didn’t think about the postage upcharge either. Can I send you the difference? Sorry about that! So glad the weather is a little better these days.
